Photograph: / / Getty imagesThis is the first documented case of the antifungal drug 'Diflucan'. It was discovered in the UK in February 2018 and was manufactured by Ajanta Pharma.
This is the second antifungal drug with this active ingredient.
It is a combination of two oral antifungal medicines - terbinafine (Fluconazole) and itraconazole (Tolmetin).
This treatment was developed to treat infections caused by the fungus Candida.
The drug is available in a single tablet and extended-release capsules (capsules containing 1,000 mg or more of the active ingredient) and can be taken in doses up to 3.5 g.
This medicine is used to treat the following infections in children:
Gonorrhea - diarrhoea in young children who have had their gynaecological abnormalities treated.
Treponema - a rash which is a symptom of malaria in the elderly.
Gonococcal pharyngitis - a bacterial infection which can cause pneumonia and acute diarrhoea in children aged under two years old.
Viral gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - the inflammation of the stomach which can be caused by infection with the herpes virus, which causes infections.
Allergies - include allergies to the components of the drug, including itraconazole.
Pregnancy and lactation: itraconazole is not recommended for pregnant women or lactating women due to the risk of birth defects which can occur in the unborn or nursing baby.
Older adults may be at a greater risk of gastrointestinal issues as their bodies may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug.
The elderly are at higher risk of complications following the last use of this medicine.
